Scientists have just discovered a rock that actually absorbs Carbon Dioxide Emissions! You may be thinking to yourself that it couldn’t possibly absorb enough to help but studies have shown that it soaks it up at a rate high enough to significantly slow global warming. The rock is known as Peridotite and with some tweaks can store up 2 billion or more tons of carbon dioxide, by speeding up the natural process.
So just with this rock and the scientist it can store about 7% of the total global carbon emissions. This is truly an amazing find and hopefully they can finish up their research soon and commence the suck up of the emissions. If you are interested in finding out more their will be a study on the November 11 edition of the Proceedings of the Natural Academy of Sciences. via ct
