Architects MVRDV have recently won the Gwanggyo City Center Competition with a very unique and amazing design. This center, if built, will be a fully sufficient city that can hold up to 77,000 inhabitants. This will be located in South Korea and will concentrate on making an everything in one city, reducing the need to drive or travel far distances therefore reducing its carbon footprint.
The first thing that comes to my mind when looking at this amazing design is the maintenance that would be required to keep all the greenery alive and clean cut but I’m sure they have that figured out with the whole design of the city. These centers are built up with the formation of rings and each level is circled with hedges that improve ventilation while reducing energy and water usage. Definitely very cool place to live and you can look at more pictures below.
