I have seen some pretty amazing looking fish but never one which brings a smile to my face. This is the Mexican Water Monster, or the proper name The Axolotl, and it is nearing extinction. This amphibian is about a foot long and is being threatened due to pollution and nonnative species populating the same waters. Researchers state that it could be only a matter of five years before they all disappear.

They are currently figuring out what can be done to try to save the species such as bred captivity and cleared canals for them to live in. Lets hope they can do something because this is an amazing looking amphibian but I have to say the baby is a lot cuter then the older ones. You can look at more pictures below.
