T. Boone Pickens was set to build the largest wind farm in the world. He commenced building but due to the credit crisis he is having trouble financing his massive 4,000 MW wind farm. This wind farm is located in Texas and has an estimated cost anywhere from $10-$12 billion. Also because the gas is at an extreme low and seems that it will keep decreasing Americans are less likely to go for natural gas for transportation.
This is not stopping Pickens though, he is creating a “New Energy Army” which he hopes to have over 2 million members by the date of inauguration. There are currently 1.3 million members so I am sure the 2 million mark will come easily.
Barack Obama, the new president elect, is calling for a 150 billion dollar investment in clean energy which will be a huge investment that will create many sources of natural energy like solar, wind, wave and many more. This investment is set to be spread over a ten year period and will definitely mark a change for the US.
