Bicycles are a great way to get around. They don’t use any gasoline or produce emissions and also provide exercise for the rider. Well David Gonçalves took the bicycle to another level by making the Grasshopper which is a very nicely designed folding bicycle that generates pedal power. Not only can it be used as means for transportation but it can also serve as a stationary biking unit and can generate and store kinetic energy.
David Goncalves entered this design in the 2008 12th International Bicycle Design Competition which won him a Merit Prize. This is definitely one of the nicer folding bicycles that have been made and the fact that it can either be stationary or you can use it to ride from point A to point B is pretty nice.
