At the Antarctic’s research base many things such as Seal brains, Penguin eggs and other foods of that sort have stopped being served. They now receive their food in shipments which consists of canned foods, frozen foods and dried foods giving the wildlife there a chance to advance and grow. There was actually a point in time where seals where killed simply for dog food so it’s good to hear that that has been taken off the menus.

In order to raise awareness on the Global Warming issues 15 artist constructed a structure that consist of a piece of ice and two Polar Bears on top. You can see the sculpture floating on the Thames River and is definitely eye catching as this does happen to the Polar Bears where they either swim for miles only to find no ice or simply one small piece that they sit on waiting to get their energy back or simply floating on to find more ice. Many times when people say one person can make a difference people tend to say “oh I’m only one person what can I do” but here we have a story that truly proves that one person can make a difference. A man name Bob Jones has saved the Aleutian cackling goose by himself.

Seeing as how Bush’s term is finally almost over he seems to not care and one thing he has been dong is slashing protection for endangered species. Well California has had enough and filed a lawsuit against Bush. Usually to get a building permit or any permit for that matter you have to go through the Fish and Wildlife Service so that they could determine if there are any endangered species living in the area. Well Bush has nulled that and is giving permission without the consult of scientist completely disregarding the animals that live in the area.

With the New Year comes new hope for Taotao who is just a 10 month old Panda bear. When he was first born his mother had left him and their seemed to be no hope left for him. Well Taotao’s keepers thought of an idea so that Taotao would let them get close to him. They smeared polar bear urine and poop all over themselves in order to fool the young polar bear and it worked. He let them get close to him and even started nursing from the hands of the keepers.

As I was growing up the animal I found most amazing was the Cheetah simply due to the speeds it could run as well as the way they look. Well I just found out that the United Nations Environment Program has just placed Cheetahs on the Endangered Species List. Over the past years the population of Cheetahs has dramatically decreased and unless something is done this amazing animal will cease to exist.

I have always known that there are certain types of toads and frogs out there with very strong and venomous poisons that can either kill you or cause psychoactive effects but to kill more then half a population of crocodiles is crazy. Professor Keith Christian from Charles Darwin University has recently conducted a survey on the Victorian river that showed that in a one year period over 70 percent of the crocodiles have died due to eating Cane Toads. Who ever thought something so small could kill something so big. You can find a picture of the frog below.

PETA has recently showed up to try to make Giorgio Armani, and their buyers, stop producing, selling and buying fur. The PETA Angles all held signs saying “Be an Angel for Animals. Ditch Fur!” Whether or not people stayed and watch simply because their outfits or for their cause let’s hope at least one person decided to stop buying fur. The Internet can be used as an amazing resource. From gathering all sorts of information to trading and buying goods and have them delivered to your doorstep. But then there is also the bad uses which involve buying, selling and trade of illegal substances and products. One of these consists of wild life trade and China has recognized that this goes on on their largest Internet auction site and are planning to find the people who are doing this and put an end to it. Lets home something can be done because the amount of trading that goes on online for Wildlife is ridiculous. Some stats given in the press release are located below.

Many of the Native fish currently in California are in a very serious decline. Twenty out of Thirty-one to be exact and a new study shows that some of these are set to be extinct by the end of this century. The bull trout has already gone extinct due to the construction of the Shasta and McCloud Dam. Lets hope they take quick action to remove these fish and provide them with the appropriate living conditions they need or simply remove the dams giving them back their natural living conditions.
