Plasma TV’s are the most energy consuming TV’s currently on the market and they have been nicknamed the 4X4’s of living rooms because they tend to consume up to 4 times the amount of energy as a standard TV and 4 times the carbon as well. Well EU is planning on passing a legislation that will ban all Plasma TV’s due to their power consumption.

A couple of weeks ago Apple introduced to us their new “green” laptops and there was a speculation on whether or not they truly where green or not but most of it was from DELL (a competitor) so don’t know how true that is. Well this morning they unveiled their new laptop which comes with a new energy efficient lithium-polymer battery. Unlike most laptop batteries which only last about 2-3 hours their new battery can run for up to eight hours on a single charge. Another thing they upgraded is the charge cycles from only 300 to 3,000 charges.

The holidays are here and with the whole “Green” subject on many peoples minds here we have for you the World’s First OLED Christmas Tree made by GE. The tree is made with a 6 inch by 15 ft OLED system that is rolled up in the shape of a Christmas tree. Although the tree is quite small this just goes to show how promising OLED technology is becoming. You can check out a video as well as a statement from the team below.

We have all run out of batteries at one point or another and have had to make a trip to the store just for some batteries. Well to solve that many people have bought rechargeable batteries so they simply charge them up and re-use them. Well Energizer is taking this one more step forward and is set to be releasing a Solar Battery Charger. It has a very nice sleek design and also comes with a USB port to plug in your electronics. The price for these is set at $49.99 which I don’t think is to bad seeing as how it doesn’t require the use of outlets.

As our technology advances we see more and more ways to create things that have less of an impact on our environment. Well here is a pretty weird concept that I never thought I would see happen. Its the disposable cell phone. Not too much information has been revealed on how this will work but it will completely bio degrade and the main components will be held in place by hay. I’m not to sure may people will go for this idea because a lot of us drop our phones and with the hay it seems that one drop would disintegrate the phone.

With the environment on everyones mind JVC presents us with a very nice creation, the JVC Bonsai Speakers. These speakers are created out of eco friendly speakers and you can purchase multiple speakers and connect them the way you wish. Each speakers also has a compartment on the top where you can plant very small plants which adds a very nice touch. You can look at more pictures of this awesome design below. via IH
