The Internet can be used as an amazing resource. From gathering all sorts of information to trading and buying goods and have them delivered to your doorstep. But then there is also the bad uses which involve buying, selling and trade of illegal substances and products. One of these consists of wild life trade and China has recognized that this goes on on their largest Internet auction site and are planning to find the people who are doing this and put an end to it. Lets home something can be done because the amount of trading that goes on online for Wildlife is ridiculous. Some stats given in the press release are located below.

Many of the Native fish currently in California are in a very serious decline. Twenty out of Thirty-one to be exact and a new study shows that some of these are set to be extinct by the end of this century. The bull trout has already gone extinct due to the construction of the Shasta and McCloud Dam. Lets hope they take quick action to remove these fish and provide them with the appropriate living conditions they need or simply remove the dams giving them back their natural living conditions. This study was done by Peter Moyle who is a professor at UC Davis. Read what he says below.

Designed by Yoon-Hui Kim and Eun-Kyung Kim is a very cool set of Illuminating Solar Blinds. Solar technology is used on countless things these days and as time passes and the technology gets better we will see some pretty amazing designs and products. The blinds pictured above have a set of solar panels on the which gather enough power to light up a design that is placed on the inside of the blinds. When you turn on the blinds you will see a image light up in form of either a table lamp, chandelier or a floor lamp.

BambooSK8 has just recently introduced to us their new Bamboo skateboards which are actually more durable, sustainable and stronger then those made with Maple. Now you may say hey its just a skateboard but did you know that Canadian Maple used to make skateboards takes anywhere from 40-60 years to mature before it can be cut down and used while Bamboo is a renewable grass that you can use after only 5 years. There are some skateboarding companies that do use a couple layers of Bamboo but BambooSK8 is the only company which uses 100% bamboo which is grown in managed forests.

Use a Timer: If you have a timer on your air conditioner set it to turn off when you leave and then to turn back on a couple minutes before you return to your house. This saves the air conditioner from working while you aren’t home therefore saving you money and energy.

Seal the Unit: Once a room air conditioner is in place, seal the space around it with rope caulk or some other sealant to prevent warm outside air from leaking in.

Close the Fresh-Air Vent: Make sure the fresh-air vent is closed when the room air conditioner is operating so you aren’t cooling outside air. Open the vent when the outside air is cooler to let in fresh air.

Use Fans With Your Air Conditioner: Fans are a great way to circulate air around your room. You can use a fan to spread the cool air that your air conditioner is creating so that the room cools down faster.

Maintain the Furnace: Clean your furnace filters monthly or replace if necessary. A clean unit runs more efficiently.

I always enjoy seeing how creators combine style with green technology and on that note here is an Energy Seed Lamp that Runs on Expired Batteries. Many of us go are constantly going through batteries. Whether it be for our remote controller, music players or house hold appliances and those Alkaline batteries are extremely bad for the environment. Even after they stop working for our appliances there is still some battery power left. So Sungwoo Park and Sunhee Kima designed this so batteries can get all the energy sucked out of them.

A Case of the Humans

Posted Nov 19th 2008  By Gabriel Harding

Here is a pretty cool animation on the story of the life of the earth. Just as we humans get sick this shows the natural balance the earth needs to have and how it can and is sick. Enjoy =).

Recently constructed in Seoul, Korea is a Commercial and Entertainment Center which you can tell by simply looking at it that it is green. Designed by MassStudies this entire building is covered in moss. Not only is the moss on the outside but parts of the inside as well. The stairwell leading down has its walls covered in moss giving this place a very unique feel to it. I wonder how hard it is to maintain it looking so nice though. You can check out more pictures below.

Ok, so I understand the whole concept that in some cultures you have to kill something for the right of passage to becoming a man. Maybe a fox, bear, deer or something of that sort. Like one or two but your not going to kill 50 fox’s to prove your manhood or at least I thought. Between the Norwegian Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean lies a small province in Denmark where since 1948 young boys would gather together and in order to become a man you had to kill as many dolphins as you can. Now I honestly feel that this is ridiculous, not the becoming a man part but massacuring dolphins to do so? That’s like killing bunnies to prove your manhood.

Currently the annual consumption of water bottles in the United States is over 30 billion and that is only counting the United States. So the guys over at End Bottled Water have a solution to help lower that number. This is a water bottle with a filter because they know that many people do not drink tap water simply because of health issues. So what you do is simply pour the water in close the top and drink while the filter located in the cap filters all the water that you are drinking.
