I’ve never really thought about this but the top of warehouse roofs are completely flat and they are pretty big as well. Well Southern California Edison saw this and took advantage of all that free space by installing Solar Panels across their roofs. They are planning to install these panels across 150 rooftops and one rooftop has been completed so only 149 more to go. Once all of the rooftops are done they will produce a combined peak capacity of 250 megawatts so the space is very nicely used.

We have seen solar powered lawn mowers to solar cars and it seems that they aren’t going to stop there with solar innovations. IBM has recently stated that they would like to see Solar sidewalks within the next 5 years. This is said to be done using thin-film solar cells which are actually cheaper then the cells we currently have and can be easily placed on driveways, houses, windows and many other things. The only thing I’m curious about is the durability of these cells seeing as how they will be walked and ridden on constantly throughout the day. It would be an amazing thing to see solar sidewalks in the future though. For more information and a video head over to their website here.

Over the course of the past few months we have been seeing various forms of electric vehicles which include cars as well as motorcycles. Well now they brought the racing to the snow. This event is set to be taking place at the 2009 edition of the Trophée Andros. They will have various different cars and motorcycles each being fully electric powered. If you want to see more pictures you can click the read more button and take a look at that. Also you can go to their official website at TA if you want to watch the videos or learn more about the event.
